Hey Mom,
Yep, transfer week! Neither of us got transferred so all is well. We will have served three transfers together after this which is quite a bit. I get to meet Uncle Pete and Aunt Mary Lou :D That'll be super exciting! Plus I wasn't ready to say goodbye to people and there are some good things coming up! Honestly, I'm not a fan of being D.L. but it's not all that bad. It's been a growing experience for sure.
Yeah! The baptisms yesterday were great! It was SO exciting to get to actually perform the baptism for Jairiko! I was more nervous than I thought I'd be but it wasn't bad and it went well the first time. They were both awesome! Then this coming Saturday we'll be having the baptisms of the Lucas' which is super exciting! Then by the end of the transfer the Tharps should be baptized *fingers crossed*
Elder Smith's shoulder is doing MUCH better. He is now on a major muscle relaxer called Soma though...just for three weeks, then they are taking him off so he doesn't get addicted. He's been pretty drowsy because of it and it's pretty funny :D I am doing MUCH better. I have been taking some 12 Hour Sudafed that the mission nurse suggested and it's helped a lot! Plus I've been chewing gum when possible and that keeps me from coughing. So I'm still not perfect but well enough to not get people sick so I can work.
Yes I got the package you sent :D Thank you! I will be responding to your handwritten letters soon. I really am enjoying the Banana Chocolate Chip Cupcakes, and you'll be proud to know that I still have four left ;) Woot!
That's funny that the Olympics this year were deemed the "Glitch Games"! Thanks for the info on the luge death. I think you're right that it's better that he died instantly!
I'll be excited to hear how the reunion goes. I know you always do a great job of planning things.
Alright, thanks for the email :D This was a great one! I don't think I have much interesting to write now. If I remember something I will include it in Dad's email, but I think I've covered everything.
Love,
Elder Jay Davis
Hey Dad,
That's awesome about the bobsled team :D We get occassional updates from members...we never did hear who ended up winning the hockey between Canada and USA it sounded pretty bleak for the US though. It did sound like overall in the olympics we dominated again though.
That's good that you got more insulation in the attic, probably will help save utilities down the road. Did Kody not remember the big glider? He was pretty young back then that's for sure. That's awesome that you've got it back in flying condition. How are you going to launch it this time? :D Make sure you take some videos that you can send to me. Even if I can't watch them now at least you will have them for when I get home. I miss watching you fly your planes that's for sure!
This week was great! Yes, we had baptisms yesterday :D I thought I told you about them but I guess not. Anyway, Missy and Jairiko got baptized. I baptized Jairiko...it was AWESOME! I was more nervous than I expected but not bad. I wore the same pants you wore on your mission...AWESOME! Then this Saturday we'll have two more, the Lucas', which will be great! Then by the end of the transfer we hope to have another couple, the Tharps, baptized! I'm glad I didn't get transferred (oh by the way, I didn't get transferred :)
I love and miss you too.
Love,
Elder Jay Davis
