Hey Mom,
Yep, transfer week! Neither of us got transferred so all is well. We will have served three transfers together after this which is quite a bit. I get to meet Uncle Pete and Aunt Mary Lou :D That'll be super exciting! Plus I wasn't ready to say goodbye to people and there are some good things coming up! Honestly, I'm not a fan of being D.L. but it's not all that bad. It's been a growing experience for sure.
Yeah! The baptisms yesterday were great! It was SO exciting to get to actually perform the baptism for Jairiko! I was more nervous than I thought I'd be but it wasn't bad and it went well the first time. They were both awesome! Then this coming Saturday we'll be having the baptisms of the Lucas' which is super exciting! Then by the end of the transfer the Tharps should be baptized *fingers crossed*
Elder Smith's shoulder is doing MUCH better. He is now on a major muscle relaxer called Soma though...just for three weeks, then they are taking him off so he doesn't get addicted. He's been pretty drowsy because of it and it's pretty funny :D I am doing MUCH better. I have been taking some 12 Hour Sudafed that the mission nurse suggested and it's helped a lot! Plus I've been chewing gum when possible and that keeps me from coughing. So I'm still not perfect but well enough to not get people sick so I can work.
Yes I got the package you sent :D Thank you! I will be responding to your handwritten letters soon. I really am enjoying the Banana Chocolate Chip Cupcakes, and you'll be proud to know that I still have four left ;) Woot!
That's funny that the Olympics this year were deemed the "Glitch Games"! Thanks for the info on the luge death. I think you're right that it's better that he died instantly!
I'll be excited to hear how the reunion goes. I know you always do a great job of planning things.
Alright, thanks for the email :D This was a great one! I don't think I have much interesting to write now. If I remember something I will include it in Dad's email, but I think I've covered everything.
Love,
Elder Jay Davis
Hey Dad,
That's awesome about the bobsled team :D We get occassional updates from members...we never did hear who ended up winning the hockey between Canada and USA it sounded pretty bleak for the US though. It did sound like overall in the olympics we dominated again though.
That's good that you got more insulation in the attic, probably will help save utilities down the road. Did Kody not remember the big glider? He was pretty young back then that's for sure. That's awesome that you've got it back in flying condition. How are you going to launch it this time? :D Make sure you take some videos that you can send to me. Even if I can't watch them now at least you will have them for when I get home. I miss watching you fly your planes that's for sure!
This week was great! Yes, we had baptisms yesterday :D I thought I told you about them but I guess not. Anyway, Missy and Jairiko got baptized. I baptized Jairiko...it was AWESOME! I was more nervous than I expected but not bad. I wore the same pants you wore on your mission...AWESOME! Then this Saturday we'll have two more, the Lucas', which will be great! Then by the end of the transfer we hope to have another couple, the Tharps, baptized! I'm glad I didn't get transferred (oh by the way, I didn't get transferred :)
I love and miss you too.
Love,
Elder Jay Davis

Hey Mom,
Yeah, Elder Smith's shoulder being injured is no good. He is feeling better, but it's kind of on and off. I have been super sick with a cold or something this whole week. I have a major cough and a big headache and major congestion and no voice. It's been pretty miserable, but I'm pushing through and the members are awesome. All is well. I just hope it blows over soon!
Woah! How did you speak with Bro. Ensey?! That blows my mind that he called you! I love that man and his family! They are one of my favoritest families! I'm excited to get your handwritten letter and hear more about the phone calls. If you get the chance to talk to him again make sure you tell him that he definitely made the first 6 months of my mission the best. Nothing will top the time I served in Foresthill!
Dominique Smith is really amazing so that's good that you talked to her too! It does sound like Tuesday was a great day for you :D
Yeah, Kody told me about his wisdom teeth. I'm sure I'll hear more about it in his email today. Remember how I didn't heal properly?! YUCK! Tell him he doesn't want to have a rubber drain in his cheek with puss coming out of it! I'm sure he'll forgive you for hovering ;)
I am glad you've had the chance to watch the olympics. That is something I've really missed. Everybody has said that this one will go down as the worst winter olympics ever (and the warmest). Also, they said that a guy died on...the luge? I think that's the one they said. Went over the edge and slammed into the ground? Nuts!
Wow! That sounds like an awesome mission that Jeremy Ewell is going to be serving! That would be so much fun!
Woah! Sam's already married?! NO ANNOUNCEMENT?! Boy that girl is gonna get it! lol, j/k I'll forgive her...but man...that irks me. Ah well.
SWEET! Chelsea is getting married on my year mark! :D
WOAH! Courtney Crockett and Jason Wilkins are getting married?! Who-da-thunk! He's not been back for very long either has he?
AHHH!! Jamie Bond is getting married! Tell her congratulations for me!!!
Man, that's weird that Ryan Hatch is getting married! Life moves fast!
Wow...I can breathe now...almost ;)
Anyway, thank you for all of the updates and the email :D I love you tons!
Love,
Elder Jay Davis
Hey Dad,
That's okay if there is overlap, I love handwritten letters! I'm excited to read it :D I've been craving mail lately so it'll be nice to get some letters ;) (I get a few, just not a lot, which is fine)
I'm glad you liked getting my email this week and laughing really hard about the story of Sister Pendleton minimizing the talk.
I heard it was really coming down hard with snow in Utah this week. That's a bummer that it's not sticking around.
That's kind of funny that Mom was so antsy to receive my email. I always worry about her when I can't email on Mondays. I remember the first time I couldn't email at a normal time on Monday and Kody told me that Mom had been pacing the house all day and every ten minutes she would check her email to see if I had emailed yet. So every time I miss a Monday and have to email Tuesday or something I worry about Mom a lot. (I know that you and Kody like the emails too, but you two aren't as nervous about it as Mom)
I'm glad to hear that our basketball team is really good. That sucks that New Mexico beat us. I really don't like New Mexico...oh well.
lol, I'm glad that this week has been one where Mom has talked about me a lot. That makes me feel really good. She must have known that I was sick! Her motherly instincts were kicking in ;) I'm fine, just a really bad cold that is not pleasant at all. Oh well. I am so shocked that Brother Ensey called you guys! That is so awesome. Thank you for your confidence in me Dad! I carry a big stick...lol...that sounds like something President Teddy Roosevelt would have said ;)
Wow...that is crazy that Sister Smith feels like I was sent to California just for her! It's interesting that I don't really realize that I'm even affecting anybody and yet somehow it seems that I am affecting a lot of people. It just blows my mind. I really can't get my brain to wrap around it!
Thanks for the email :D I'll be looking forward to your letter!
Love you tons!
